Abstract :Bu makale, Balıkesir Üniversitesi İlahiyat Fakültesi tarafından, 19-21 Eylül 2014 tarihleri arasında Balıkesir’de düzenlenen Vefatının 50. Yılında Hasan Basri Çantay Sempozyumu’nda sözel bildiri olarak sunulan bildirinin yeniden gözden geçirilmiş ve genişletilmiş şeklidir. Bu makalenin amacı Hasan Basri Çantay’ın hayatını ve pratik ahlâk anlayışını ortaya koymaktır. Çantay’a göre ahlâkî yaşam toplumun geleceğini belirleyen güvenli ve sağlıklı bir toplum için vazgeçilmez bir unsurdur. Bir toplumun ahlâkî yönünün çökmesi istikbaline ve kalkınmasına en büyük tehdittir. Çantay, adalet, kardeşlik ve hoşgörü gibi ahlâkî değerlerin toplumu bir arada tuttuğuna inanır. Hak ve hukuk dışı uygunsuz davranışlarla mücadeleyi bir görev bilir. Toplumu zaafa uğratan ve çöküntünün eşiğine getiren adaletsizliği ve ihtikârı ise asla benimsemez. Çantay iman ile ameli de birbirinden ayırmamıştır. İman ile amel arasında sıkı bir bağ kurmuştur. Bu yönüyle de amele büyük önem vermiştir. İslâm ahlâkını savunmuştur. İslâmiyet’in önem verdiği ahlâkî değerleri bizzat kişiliğiyle bütünleştirmiştir. Çantay ahlâksızlığı hedef alan yazılarıyla toplumu sürekli bilinçlendirmiştir.  The aim of this article is to examine Hasan Basri Cantay’s life and his practial moral thought. According to Çantay, moral life is an indispensable element for a safe and healthy society that determines the future of a society. The collapse of a society`s moral orientation is the greatest threat to the development and future of that community. Çantay believes that moral values, such as justice, brotherhood and tolerance, hold society together. He knew a duty to struggle with illegitimate inappropriate behavior. He has never accepted the injustice and wittiness that has inflicted demoralization on society and brought it to the brink of collapse. Çantay, did not distinguish between faith and workmanship. He established a close connection between faith and deed. In this respect, He gave great importance to the direction of the action. He defended Islamic morality. He personally integrated the moral values ​​that Islam has given importance to. Hasan Basri Çantay has always been conscious of the society with his writings aimed at morality.
