Abstract :In breeding studies, new variety development and expansion of the genetic pool, identification of breeding materials are important in terms of productivity. In order to evaluate chickpea (Cicer arietinum L) genotypes obtained from Türkiye, ICARDA and different regions and to determine some important agronomic and morphological characteristics, a total of 450 different genetic resources were evaluated for phenotypic diversity. Characterisation of the genotypes at winter sowing time were performed both qualitatively and quantitatively. In this study, when the weights and contributions of the traits in the first three principal components were analysed, it was seen that the highest values were for leaflet length, leaflet width, 100 grain weight in the first principal component; plant height and first pod height for the second principal component; and number of days to flowering and days to pod setting for the third principal component. The first, second and third principal components explained 27.02%, 19.62% and 13.55% of the variance, respectively. Thus, the first three principal components represented more than 60% of variance for the 450 chickpea genotypes. The traits determined as the most significant contributors to the three principal components are effective characters for population. Characterisation of the diversity of breeding materials and the relationship between yield and morphological characters are important in creating starting material in breeding studies and improving the performance of varieties. Keywords : Nohut, agronomik karakterizasyon, morfolojik karakterizasyon, Ana Bileşen Analizi (PCA)
