Determination of Cross-Pollination in Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) Using Different Experimental Designs

Abstract :Normal 0 21 false false false TR X-NONE X-NONE This study was carried out at the University of Ankara, Faculty of Agriculture and Field Crops Department experimental field during 2012-2013. Two safflower insert ignore into journalissuearticles values( Carthamus tinctorius L.); cultivars having two different characters insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(spiny and spineless); were used as the study material. The cultivars with spiny insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(Balcı); was used as a donor and spineless cultivar insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(Yenice); was used as a receptor. Average cross-pollination ratio ranged between 1.12% and 7.72%. The highest cross-pollination ratio was obtained from third experimental design while the lowest ratio was in north direction of forth experimental design. General average ratio was 3.49% in Ankara conditions. There were differences among the experimental designs in respect to cross-pollination.
