Abstract :ABSTRACT After harvest, agricultural products must undergo a series of processes to make them usable. One of these is the separation process. Small grained products are very difficult to clean. Methods such as sieving and air separation are used to separate these materials. Air separation is oriented horizontally, vertically and inclined. In the horizontal air tunnel, the materials in the mixture can be separated by the effect of gravity and drag force. When designing this type of air tunnels, air velocity, fan angle and outlet channel dimensions should be determined to allow the separation of materials in the mixture. The aim of this study is to separate mixed small-grained products from each other by aerodynamic method. For this purpose, some separation parameters of small grained products were determined and a model was obtained. In a horizontal air tunnel, materials in the mixture can be separated by gravity and drag forces. When designing this type of air tunnel, air velocity, fan angle, and outlet channel dimensions must be determined to facilitate the separation of the materials in the mixture.The most suitable SE and BO were determined at 4.5 m s-1 air velocity and 45° fan angle. Under these conditions, SE was 99.12% and BO was 88.45%. It has been observed that the mixture can be separated with a channel length of 800 mm. It has been demonstrated that the obtained model can be used in cleaning small grained products with this prototype machine.
