Abstract :Summary: The article focuses on İsmayıl Hakkı Baltacıoğlu who has many theoretical and practicle drama works. The importance of Baltacıoğlu for the Turkish theatre history is his creative theatre theory. This article also analyses his theory which is related to the traditional Turkish theatre and which is a synthesis of this tradition and many international methods such as Meyerhold, Appia or Craig`s. The article also tries to examine the relation between Baltacıoğlu`s theory and the contemporary Turkish theatre works and it discusses the use of this theory in actual Turkish theatre.
