Investigation of Biogas Potential from Animal Waste in Bingöl Province

Abstract :In this study, biogas and energy potential of animal wastes belonging to Bingöl province was investigated. The study in question was based on data from the Bingöl Governorship Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry for the years 2002-2020. It has been determined that a total of 14 million 87 thousand 588 tons of manure that can be produced from animal waste between 2002 and 2020, assuming that all of this manure will be used in biogas production, a total biogas potential of 650 million 292 thousand 746 m³ and the total amount of energy to be obtained in the said years will be approximately 3057 GWh. In addition, the average of the data for the years 2002-2020 was evaluated in order to reveal the annual average biogas and energy production. Considering the distribution of biogas energy by districts, it is understood that Karlıova district plays an important role with a share of 31%. According to 2020 data, it is seen that 73,8% of the 303,7 GWh electricity consumed can be met by biogas energy. Especially in our province, it is obvious that the establishment of biogas facilities on district basis and utilizing this potential will decrease our dependency on foreign energy.
