The Role of Royal Jelly on Exhaustive Exercise-Induced Oxidative Stress

Abstract :In this study, the effects of Royal Jelly insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(RJ); on oxidative stress caused by exhaustive swimming exercise in rat tissues were evaluated. Methods: Twenty four male Wistar albino rats were indiscriminately distributed into four experimental groups: Sedentary control insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(SC);; SC with administration of RJ insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(100 mg kg-1); insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(SC + RJ);; exhaustive swimming exercise insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(E);; Exhaustive swimming exercise with administration of RJ insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(100 mg kg-1); insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(E + RJ);. 100 mg kg-1 of RJ were dissolved in drinking water. Rats in the SC+RJ and E+RJ groups supplemented with RJ insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(100 mg kg-1); orally once a day for two weeks. Rats in groups E and E+RJ subjected to acute exhaustive swimming exercise on the 14th day of the study, then some biochemical parameters related to oxidative stress of all groups were measured. Results: The activities of alanine aminotransferase insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(ALT);, aspartate aminotransferase insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(AST);, alkaline phosphatase insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(ALP);, blood urea nitrogen insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(BUN); and creatinine insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(CRE); levels significantly raised in the exercised rats compared with the sedentary rats insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(P < 0.05);. The decreased superoxide dismutase insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(SOD);, glutathione peroxidase insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(GSHPx);, and catalase insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(CAT); activities of muscular and hepatic tissues significantly increased and the high malondialdehyde insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(MDA); levels of muscular, hepatic and kidney tissues significantly reduced in exercised rats treated with RJ insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(P < 0.05);. Conclucion: Collectively, in this study, protective effects of RJ on tissues against oxidative damage after exhaustive exercise were observed.
