Abstract :This paper introduces a general goodness-of- t test based on the estimated Gini index. The exact and asymptotic distribution of the test statistic are presented. Then goodness-of- t tests for the normal, exponential, uniform and Laplace distributions are presented. The powers of the proposed tests under various alternatives are compared with the other tests via simulation study. The use of our test is shown in real examples.
