Abstract :Aims: This study aimed to determine the spiritual care needs of individuals diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and to examine the relationship with some sociodemographic and clinical characteristics. Methods: This descriptive and correlational study was conducted with individuals diagnosed with IBD (n=203). Data were collected using the \\\"Descriptive Information Form,\\\" \\\"Spiritual Care Needs Inventory,\\\" \\\"Simple Clinical Colitis Activity Index,\\\" and \\\" Harvey-Bradshaw Index.\\\" Descriptive statistics, t-test for independent groups, one-way analysis of variance, and Pearson correlation analysis were used to analyze the data. Results: The mean total spiritual care need score of the participants was found to be 59.38±20.00. According to the sub-dimensions, the mean score of the \\\"meaning and hope\\\" sub-dimension was 35.56±13.45, and the mean score of the \\\"caring and respecting\\\" sub-dimension was 23.82±8.17. The \\\"meaning and hope\\\" sub-dimension scores of single and employed individuals were significantly higher than those of married and unemployed individuals (p<0.05). In addition, total spiritual care needs scores of individuals who did not use medication for IBD were found to be higher than those who used medication (p<0.05). A significant positive correlation was found between the Harvey-Bradshaw Index and the \\\"caring and respecting\\\" sub-dimension (p<0.05). Conclusion: It was determined that the spiritual care needs of individuals diagnosed with IBD were generally above average. The increase in disease activity especially increases individuals\\\' expectations forattention, being valued, and meaning in life. These findings suggest that nurses should be physically, spiritually, and psychosocially sensitive.
