Maarif Model Middle School 5th Grade Science Course Curriculum Learning Outcomes and Content Relationship

Abstract :The aim of this study is to examine the compatibility between the learning outcomes and the content in the 5th grade science curriculum of the Middle School, which was renewed within the framework of the 2024 Turkish Century Education Model (TYMM). In the 2024-2025 academic year, the content of the 5th grade middle school science textbook determined by the Ministry of National Education and used throughout Turkey and the 5th grade learning outcomes in the middle school science curriculum were evaluated in terms of compatibility. The reliability of the designed rubric was analyzed with the Weighted Kappa Coefficient and Miles and Huberman Coefficient. The analyses were consistent with each other; Miles and Huberman Coefficient was found to be 0.930 and Weighted Kappa Coefficient was found to be 0.746. Two co-observers scored the alignment between the learning outcomes in the 5th grade science curriculum and the content in the textbook using the learning outcome-content alignment assessment rubric developed by the researchers As a result of the analysis of the mean scores, it was determined that there was a high level of congruence between the learning outcomes in the 2024 TYMM middle school 5th grade science curriculum and the content of the textbook.
