Abstract :The aim of this study is to examine the effect of using literary books and cinema films on students\\\' comprehension skills in teaching Turkish to foreigners. The case study model, one of the qualitative research designs, was adopted and the study was conducted with 24 C1 level students studying at TÖMER. Four different treatment groups were formed within the scope of holistic multiple case design. The first group watched the film Selvi Boylum Al Yazmalım with subtitles, the second group watched it without subtitles, the third group read the printed version of the book and the fourth group listened to the audiobook. The film application lasted 3 weeks and the book application lasted 6 weeks. Each group answered the listening/watching and reading comprehension tests after following the relevant material. At the end of the application, a semi-structured interview form was applied to all students. The data were analysed using descriptive and content analysis methods. According to the results, the listening/watching comprehension scores of the group watching films without subtitles were higher than the group watching films with subtitles. Similarly, the listening and reading comprehension scores of the group who read printed books were higher than the group who listened to audio books. In general, the order of success was as follows: film without subtitles, film with subtitles, printed book and audio book. The study revealed that different stimuli are effective in developing comprehension skills in teaching Turkish to foreigners.
