Abstract :Human beings have tried to understand the environment in which they have lived throughout history; and need to express and communicate their thoughts for the future. While living, they have produced many historical and cultural artefacts because they have coveted to show their talents and works to others. Thanks to these, they have not only tried to communicate with the people of their time but also intended to send messages to the next generations and communities. In their artifacts and other works, there are some clear or secret messages and symbols. Within this context, visual communication has been one of the most important type of communication up today. These visual elements have also developed in parallel with the speed of life and modern lifestyle and developing technology. Therefore, there has emerged a need to name, decode and analyze visual communication that has an important place in our lives. In this study, It Is aimed to carry out linguistic, historical and cultural analyses of eight Harry Potter movie posters from a semiotic perspective. The movie posters that have been examined in the study were tried to be analyzed through Ferdinand de Saussure\\\'s sign, signifier and signified elements and Roland Barthes\\\' concept of connotation.Keywords : Harry Potter, Afiş, Göstergebilim, Dilbilim, Tarih
