Abstract :In this study, it is aimed to compare the trailer technique, which is one of the creative drama techniques, with the traditional summarizing activity in terms of the development of students\\\' reading comprehension and their perceptions of the two types of activities. In the study, in which qualitative data collection methods were used, the students were divided into two groups of 19 and 20. Two different short stories belonging to the same author and with the same theme were applied to both groups. Thus, both groups used both trailer and traditional summarizing technique with different stories. After the applications were completed, semi-structured interviews were conducted with both groups. According to the results, the two tasks were found similar in terms of efficient coverage of main ideas and the cognitive processes involved. According to the focus groups, when students looked at the stories using the trailer method, they seemed to feel better about them and understand them better. Students liked the trailer strategy for three main reasons: it helps them understand and remember things by getting them involved, it gives them new, fun, and motivating experiences, and it uses speaking skills better than the summary technique.
