Abstract :This study evaluates the prognostic value of inflammatory biomarkers, particularly the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), in patients diagnosed with ischemic and hemorrhagic cerebrovascular events. The research, conducted retrospectively, included 116 patients (100 ischemic strokes and 16 hemorrhagic strokes). The results indicated no statistically significant correlation between NLR and hospital length of stay in either group. While NLR has been widely studied as a prognostic marker in various acute conditions, its role in stroke outcomes remains controversial. This study highlights the need for further research to clarify the utility of NLR and other inflammatory indices, such as the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) and pan-immune inflammation value (PIV), in stroke management. The findings suggest that NLR alone may not be a reliable predictor of mortality or morbidity in stroke patients, emphasizing the importance of context-specific biomarker evaluation.
