Abstract :This paper presents a comparative study on wind energy potential for Artvin, which has a very rugged terrain and is in the east of Turkey and the Black Sea. Wind energy potential is computed with Numerical methods such as Weibull, Rayleigh, Gamma, and Lognormal distributions by using hourly wind speed data. Monthly wind energy density is determined between June 2017 and September 2018. The current map data of the General Directorate of Renewable Energy and the solar radiation amounts, and wind speed potentials obtained from Artvin Meteorology Directorate of the province are used. As a result of the calculations, the wind power obtained from the Weibull, Rayleigh, Gamma and Lognormal distributions is compared. It is shown that the weibull distribution produces more stable results.
