Abstract :This study was conducted to investigate the effects of COVID-19 infection and training on hemogram, biochemistry and respiratory function test parameters in professional football players who had COVID-19. The study group consists of 30 volunteer male football players aged between 18-37, with similar eating habits, who tested positive for COVID-19 PCR two days before each competition (MG-2) in laboratories accredited by the Ministry of Health and institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Health, did not receive any medical treatment during this period, and whose PCR test returned negative after quarantine. All football players in the study were given a training program that included predetermined standard football techniques and tactics for 4 days a week in total 6 weeks. In the study, the hemogram, biochemistry and respiratory function test parameters, which were checked in the pre-season general health screening tests of the football players, were measured after they had COVID-19 and a 6-week training program was applied. According to the findings obtained in the study, it was observed that the hemogram parameters of the football players, EOZ, HCT, HGB, PCT, RBC and WBC values increased, while the MONO value decreased. Among the biochemical parameters, it was determined that there was a decrease in Glucose, Albumin, NA, Triglyceride values and an increase in AST, Ferritin, LDL, K values. In the respiratory function test parameters, a decrease in FVC, FEV1, FEV1/FVC and PEF values was detected. As a result, it can be said that since COVID-19 infection is a disease that affects the respiratory tract in particular, it causes a general decrease in the lung capacity of athletes due to the decrease in lung compensation, there is an increase in the infective parameters of the hemogram examination, similar to viral infections, and in biochemical parameters, there is an increase in acute phase reactants due to the infection state, and a decrease in the parameters responsible for tissue nutrition due to consumption
