Abstract :The first total syntheses of Balsacone C insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(16); and Balsacone B insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(17);, mainly based on a convergent strategy, were described. The crucial step of this strategy was the alkylation of trihydroxydihydrochalcone derivatives 7 and 8 with cinnamylbromide derivative 13. For this, compounds 7 and 8 were prepared starting from trihydroxyacetophenone insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(1); in four steps. Then compound 13 was prepared starting from coumaric acid insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(9); in four steps.
