Abstract :Effects of calcium channel blocker verapamil on spinal reflexes were studied. Verapamil 5, 50, insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(iM locally. 10,20 mg/kg was administradet intraperitoneally and 10, 50, 100 insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(iM localyy. Experiments on adult spinal cats insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(n=10); were conducted. Animals weighing 1,5-3 kg were anesthetized with ketamine insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(45 mg/kg intramuscular); and artiflcally ventilated. Animals were spinalized at Cj level and a laminectomy was performed in the lumbosacral region. The ventral and dorsal roots of segment Lg were isolated. A polyethylene cannule was int¬roduced into the carotid artery to monitor blood pressure, which was kept above 100 mmHg. The dorsal root of segment L5 placed on a silver-silver chloride wire electrod for electrical stimulation. The reflex potentials were recorded from the ipsilateral L5 ventral root, mounted on a silver-silver chloride wire electrode. Both systemic and local applica¬tion of verapamil inhibited reflexes insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(p<0.05);. The latency of reflexes was considerably inc¬reased as a results of systemic 20 mg doses insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(p<0.05);. These results show the possible presence of voltage-dependent calcium channels in the spinal cord and these channels may play an important role to regulate reflex responds. Kalsiyum kanal blokerlerinden verapamilin omurilik reflekslerine olan etkilerini araştırdık. Verapamil, 10, 50, 100 |iM lokal ve 5, 10, 20 mg/kg intraperitonal insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(i.p.); olarak verildi. Yetişkin kediler insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(n=10); 1,5 - 3 kg ağırlığında intramüsküler insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(i.m.); ketaminle insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(50 mg/kg, i.m.); anestezi edildi ve suni ventilasyon uygulandı. Hayvanlar servikal seviyeden spinalize edildi. Lumbosakral bölgeden laminektomi yapıldı. L5 segmentin dorsal ve ventral kökleri izole edildi. Stimülasyon için L5 segmentin dorsal köküne Ag-AgCI tel elektrot yerleştirildi. Refleks po-tansiyeller ipsilateral L5 ventral kökten kaydedildi, bu kayıtta da Ag-AgCI tel elektrot kul¬lanıldı. Verapamilin sistemikve lokal dozları refleks cevap amplitüdünü azalttı insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(p<0.05);. 20 mg/ kg`lık sistemik doz latenste anlamlı uzama oluşturdu insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(p<0.05);. Bu sonuçlar bize omurilikte voltaja bağımlı kalsiyum kanallarının olabileceğini ve refleks cevabın düzenlenmesinde voltaj kapılı kalsiyum kanallarının rol oynayabileceğini düşündürmektedir.Keywords :
