Abstract :The Clinical Assessment of Calcipotriol and metylprednisolone Ointments in The Treatment of Psoriasis Vulgararis The success of corticosteroids in the therapy of inflammatory and proliferative disorders of the skin has led to vigorous development of new corticosteroids. The development of more potent corticosteroids has extended their usefulness in a wide variety of skin diseases, but especially with long term use, has led to unwanted effects. Methyl Prednisolone Aceponate insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(MPA); is a new corticosteroid diester developed for the topical treatment of steroid-responsive skin diseases. Calcipotriol is a new vitamin D analogue, which has proved a very effective topical treatment for mild to moderate chronic plaque psoriasis. Thirty patients with stable plaque psoriasis involving at least 5% of their body surface area were recruited. This trial compared calcipotriol with MPA ointment. The ointments were applied to all the lesions twice daily over a period of 8 weeks, apart from those on the scalp, face and anogenital region. No other treatment was permitted. The severity of the disease was evaluated in the pre-and post-treatment cases according to PASI scores. Calcipotriol ointment was as effective as Methylprednisolone aceponate ointment as measured by the PASI in patients with stable plaque psoriasis. Both treatments were well tolerated. İnflamatuar ve proliferatif deri hastalıklarının tedavisinde kortikosteroidlerin başarısı bu alanda yeni kortikosteroidlerin geliştirilmesine yol açmıştır. Fakat bu ilaçların özellikle uzun süreli kullanımı istenmeyen etkilere yol açabilir. Metilprednizolon aseponat insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(MPA); yeni geliştirilmiş bir kortikosteroiddir.
