Abstract :The present study tries to find out the settings of student teachers of German teacher education department regarding the teaching of foreign languages, the course content, and teacher competencies. Ultimately, it concludes that different requirements and qualifications of the study programme must be more closely linked, so that we eventually graduate German language teachers with adequate linguistic, personal and professional competencies.
