Abstract :Cinema is a medium through which ideology is continuously reproduced. At times, it serves as an instrument of social control employed by dominant powers; at other times, with its rich narrative structure, it becomes a vehicle for the emergence of new paths and methods. Its function as an ideological apparatus renders cinema a powerful force that operates across all areas of life. In this context, cinema possesses influential capabilities in shaping individuals and serves as a significant tool for social change and transformation. This study analyzes practices of civil disobedience, law, power, and the individual through the lens of the film The Trial of the Chicago 7. It evaluates the film within the framework of concepts such as ideological state apparatuses, surveillance, discipline, biopolitics, consent, and the public sphere. The study employs discourse analysis as its methodological approach. Purposeful sampling was used to select The Trial of the Chicago 7 as the case study. The aim of this research is to provide a cinematic contribution to the question of how individuals can defend their constitutional rights against state power, to explore the discursive and practical strategies they may adopt, and to offer a cinematic perspective on the nature of resistance.
