Abstract :The UV and visible absorption spectra of some l-insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(arylazo);-propane-2-one are investigated in different organic solvents. The spectra are discussed in terms of medium effects and molecular structure. Band assignment is also attempted. The variation of absorption spectra with pH is utilised for the determination of pKa. The effect of substituenıs on pKa, Xmax and £maX is al¬so considered. The inıportant bands is the ir-spectra are discussed in relation to molecular struc¬ture.
