Abstract :In this paper, the author addresses the question of imbuing Islamic Studies programs with the values of peace, sanctity, morality, knowledge about faith, and the faith-rooted knowledge today. He argues that the present-day conflicts and wars in the traditional lands of Islam and in numerous traditional Islamic and Muslim societies require Muslim intellectuals and the ʽulama to urgently reconsider the purpose of Islamic Studies. He emphasizes the need for divesting Islamic Studies programs from politics, ideology, and sectarianism.
