Abstract :SONUÇ Yeni ve daha iyi metodların bulunması için araştırmalar devam ederken, daha öncede belirttiğimiz gibi unutulmaması gereken en önemli nokta rehabilitasyonun eksiksiz yapılmasıdır ve ancak bu sayede çocuğun konuşması ve görünüşü yaşadığı toplum tarafından kabul edilebilir. En büyük dileğimiz, halen pek çok memlekette yaygın olarak kullanılan ve iyi sonuçlar alınan Mc Neil - Burston stimülasyon metoduna memleketimizde de başlanması, eksiksiz bir rehabilitasyon için ekip halinde çalışmayı gerektiren yarık dudak ve damak merkezlerinin en kısa zamanda kurulmasıdır. SUMMARY Presented in this paper is a general review and orthodontic approach of the cleft lip and palate. In the past, these clefts were usually the responsibility of the surgeon, Now, the modren trend is to have the required specialist work together as a team beginning soon after the child\`s birth. The advantages of the Mc Neil-Burston presurgical orthopaedic treatment, and the tecniquc of this method has been discussed in the text. We consider the application of this method to be justified and widely accepted all over the world and the results achieved are highly satisfactory.
