Abstract :The effective use of museums as educational settings depends largely on teachers’ competencies in this field. Accordingly, teacher education programs should aim to develop preservice teachers’ knowledge and skills related to museum-based learning. This study explored the views of preservice early childhood teachers on the pedagogical use of museums. A qualitative design was employed with a study group of 18 third-year students enrolled in the Early Childhood Education program at Kırıkkale University (14 female, 4 male), selected based on accessibility and motivation to participate. Data were collected using a semi-structured interview form developed by the researchers, which included open-ended questions focusing on lesson planning, field trip organization, and the selection of instructional strategies for museum-based education. Descriptive analysis was applied to the qualitative data. The findings indicated that most participants associated museum education with cultural heritage and tradition. Active participation, concrete experiences, and learning by doing were emphasized as key advantages, while challenges such as limited access to child-friendly museums and bureaucratic procedures for obtaining legal permissions were reported as disadvantages. These results highlight the need to strengthen preservice teachers’ knowledge and practical experience in designing effective museum-based lessonsKeywords : müze, okul öncesi, öğretmen adayı
