Abstract :Makalede, Sidece’deki Y işaretinin sesli bir harfi göstermediği, büyük ihtimalle /w/ harfine denk geldiği belirtilmektedir. Bu nedenle, Side alfabesi sadece dört sesli harf işaretine sahip olup, Side dili bu anlamda Likçe ve geç dönem Luvice’sine benzemekteydi. Y işaretinin /w/ ses değerine karşılık gelmesi Side alfabesinin sesli harf işaretleri olmayan Semitik bir alfabeden üretildiğine işaret etmektedir.
