Abstract :The article is devoted to the problem of motivation of students’ independent work in the process of reading in a foreign language. The components of the motivational-stimulating phase of independent work in teaching foreign language reading are considered. It describes the steps that make up a truly independent reading in a foreign language, as well as factors that encourage students to perform them voluntarily. The need to study the motivational-stimulating phase of independent reading arises due to the fact that the vast majority of students outside the classroom on their own initiative almost do not work independently, not trying to find ways to solve learning problems by reading literature.
Keywords : motivation, independent work, foreign language reading, goals, needs, motives, interest, incentives, informational opportunities, installation
