Abstract :“Islam and the State in Ibn Taymiyya: Translation and Analysis” by Jaan S. Islam and Adem Eryiğit offers a focused study of Ibn Taymiyya’s political ideologies, framed within geopolitical and theological contexts of his time. This review highlights the book’s unique contribution as both a comprehensive translation and a theoretical analysis of key treatises by Ibn Taymiyya, which aim to position his ideas within contemporary Islamic political theory and decolonial thought. The review assesses the book’s structure, strengths, and weaknesses, providing suggestions for a broader approach that would incorporate additional facets of Ibn Taymiyya’s thought. This book is an essential resource for scholars in political science, Islamic studies, and religious history, providing accessible primary source alongside critical insights into Ibn Taymiyya’s political philosophy.
