Abstract :After their families, primary school teachers are often among the first individuals from whom children seek care and affection. A review of the available literature indicates that studies examining the long-term effects of relationships between primary school teachers and students are limited, and that the digital reflections of these effects have not yet been sufficiently explored. This study aims to contribute to filling this gap. One such online forum thread, titled “Things One Wants to Say to Their Primary School Teacher,” contains a large number of comments, suggesting that many individuals wish to express positive or negative feelings toward their primary school teachers even years later. This indicates that teacher–student interactions may have meaningful long-term consequences. Adopting a qualitative phenomenological design, this study analyzed forum users’ feelings and thoughts toward their primary school teachers, their reactions, and the teacher behaviors and characteristics underlying these reactions. The data obtained through document analysis were examined using content analysis. The findings revealed that negative reactions toward primary school teachers were more prevalent than positive ones. While positive reactions primarily involved emotions such as love, gratitude, and appreciation and were associated with caring, affectionate, and supportive teacher behaviors, negative reactions most commonly involved dislike, strong insult, reproach, hatred, and cursing, and were linked to behaviors such as violence, discrimination, indifference, humiliation, and undermining self-confidence. Overall, the findings indicate that individuals tend to maintain emotional bonds with their primary school teachers through positive or negative reactions even years later.
