Abstract :Cataract is a significant ophthalmological condition that results in progressive vision loss and has a detrimental effect on the quality of life of those affected. The advent of contemporary surgical methodologies has rendered cataract surgery a safe and effective procedure. However, it is acknowledged that the surgical process can induce significant anxiety due to concerns regarding potential visual impairment and the inherent uncertainty surrounding the procedure, particularly among elderly individuals. The present review discusses the anxiety experienced by patients before and after cataract surgery, as well as the factors that cause this anxiety. It also focuses on practices for the management of anxiety in nursing care. In accordance with the findings of the preceding five years of research in the relevant literature, it is evident that effective nursing interventions play a significant role in the reduction of anxiety at every stage of the surgical process. Consequently, it is incumbent upon nurses to develop contemporary, holistic and individualised care practices. Keywords : anksiyete, cerrahi, hemşirelik bakımı, katarakt
