Abstract :In this research, the role of television series in cultural transmission was examined. In this context, it is aimed to examine the cultural transmission of Yasak Elma, which has a high audience rate in Türkiye, on the basis of communication. The population of the research is the local series broadcast in Türkiye between 2018-2020. The sample of the research is Yasak Elma, which is focused on based on viewer complaints. The research data were obtained from certain episodes of the series through systematic sampling. Critical discourse analysis was used in the analysis of the research data. In the analysis, the elements that constitute culture were addressed in terms of macro and micro structures. In this way, the suitability of the cultural transfers in the Yasak Elma series to Turkish culture was evaluated. According to the research results, it was determined that a structure suitable for Turkish culture was not exhibited in the dimensions of “general characteristics”, “clothing and food”, “space and digitalization”, “materiality and transportation”, “individual and family”, “community and government”, “religion and science”, “relationship and life cycle”. Additionally, it was found that there were representations contrary to Turkish culture in the dimensions of “syntactic structure” and “rhetoric”.
