Abstract :Global value chain (GVC) is defined as a production process involving value-added from at least two countries with increasing global integration. This study aims to identify the industries triggered by the exports/imports of intermediate inputs in the rest of the world / Türkiye for the industries that Türkiye has identified as targets in the 2023 Industry and Technology Strategy Document. In this way, it is determined in which industries Türkiye is articulated to GVCs through its target industries. The analysis is carried out by calculating the forward and backward linkage coefficients between countries in the multi-country input-output matrix. As an analysis tool, the input-output matrix with 45 industries and 64 countries produced by the OECD for 2018 is used. In the analysis, the matrix is used by aggregating it as two countries in the form of Türkiye and the rest of the world. Analysis indicates that inter-country calculated forward and backward linkage coefficients for both intermediate input exports and imports of the target industries “electrical equipment”, “chemicals”, “machinery” and “motor vehicles” are greater than 1. This finding can be interpreted as a mutual interdependence between the production of the world and Türkiye through these industries. Additionally, it can be said that Türkiye is unidirectionally dependent on imports from abroad in the “computers and electronic and optical products” industry. Another finding is that there is a relative compatibility between the industries that Türkiye has been exporting the most for many years and the industries with high value-added and high technology content that are targeted to be exported in the recent period.
