Abstract :With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, addressing occupational fatigue among nurses and enhancing employee performance have become increasingly critical. This study investigates the effects of Lavender aromatherapy on reducing occupational fatigue and improving employee performance among nurses. This quasi-experimental study was conducted with 82 nurses working in the clinics of a public hospital in a province of Turkey between July and September 2022. Data were collected using the Nurse Information Form, the Occupational Fatigue Exhaustion Recovery Scale, and the Performance Scale. Following the completion of the pre-test data collection forms, lavender oil was placed in 20 ml glass dropper bottles and a censer was provided in the nurses\\\' rooms. The lavender oil was applied via inhalation and remained in the nurses\\\' rooms for a duration of four weeks. After this period, the nurses completed the data collection forms again for the post-test assessment. Of the participating nurses, 62.2% reported having no knowledge of aromatherapy, 72% were unfamiliar with lavender oil, and 92.7% had not previously used any aromatherapy methods. After the lavender inhalation intervention, there was a statistically significant difference in the mean pre-test and post-test scores for the chronic fatigue, acute fatigue, and recovery sub-dimensions (p = 0.001). However, there was no significant difference in the mean pre-test and post-test scores for the employee performance sub-dimension (p > 0.005). Lavender aromatherapy was effective in reducing the mean scores for chronic and acute fatigue among nurses, leading to an increase in the mean recovery score. However, it did not have a significant impact on employee performance.
