Abstract :This study aims to examine the relationships between empathy, marital satisfaction and forgiveness in marriage and to reveal the mediating role of marital mindfulness in these relationships. The research was conducted based on the relational survey model. Data were collected from 596 married individuals across Turkey by snowball sampling method. The participants completed the Marriage Awareness Scale, Empathy in Marriage Scale, Forgiveness Scale and Marital Life Scale. For the analysis of the data, structural equation modelling was performed using SPSS and AMOS software. The results of the analyses showed that marital awareness played a fully mediating role in the relationship between empathy and marital satisfaction and forgiveness. Marital awareness emerged as a factor explaining all of these relationships. The fit indices of the model showed excellent fit. The findings revealed that marital mindfulness is an important concept that strengthens the relationships between empathy, marital satisfaction and forgiveness.
