Abstract :Objective: The aim of the study was to determine the frequency and types of transfusion-related adverse reactions in patients receiving blood/blood component transfusions as part of hemovigilance and to obtain data on their distribution during the pandemic. Materials and Methods: Data on blood/blood component transfusions monitored within the hemovigilance system were retrospectively analyzed to evaluate the sociodemographic characteristics of patients with transfusion-related adverse reactions, blood and blood components that developed adverse reactions during transfusion, transfusion-related adverse reactions and their association and severity ratings. Results: At the transfusion center, 73 (420/100000) transfusion-related adverse reactions were detected in 17533 blood and blood component transfusions. Reactions were most frequent in transfusions administered by pulmonologists and in inpatient units, but 17.8% of the reactions were observed in emergency room transfusion practices. The degree of association of the transfusion reactions observed ranged from 1 to 3, and the degree of severity ranged from 1 to 2. All transfusion-related adverse events were acute. The most common transfusion reaction was observed with platelet transfusions. Conclusions: Covid-19 pandemic hemovigilance of adverse transfusion reactions data can be used as a guide for patient safety practice for planning transfusion safety measures will contribute. Keywords : Kan, Transfüzyon reaksiyonu, Covid -19 pandemisi
