Abstract :Aim: To compare colposcopic biopsy procedures performed under sedoanalgesia and without anesthesia. Materials and Methods: This study was designed retrospectively and 191 patients who underwent colposcopic biopsy with the diagnosis of cervical preinvasive lesion were included in the study. Patients using anticoagulants and patients not suitable for monopolar cauterization were excluded from the study. We defined group 1 as patients who underwent colposcopy under sedoanalgesia, and group 2 as patients without anesthesia. Results: Colposcopic biopsy was performed under sedoanalgesia in 80 of the 191 patients. Cauterization was required to control bleeding after the biopsy in 59 patients. There was a significant difference between the two groups in terms of cautery use for bleeding control, and we found that performing colposcopic biopsy under sedation significantly reduced cautery use (OR: 9.073, 95% CI: 3.618-22.754, p<0.001). Additionally, colposcopic biopsy time was significantly shorter in the sedoanalgesia group (p<0.001). Conclusions: As a result, performing colposcopic biopsy under sedoanalgesia shortens the procedure time and reduces the use of cautery. However, caution regarding the side effects of sedoanalgesia and appropriate patient selection is important. Randomized controlled studies with a larger number of patients are needed to assess the applicability of colposcopic biopsy under sedoanalgesiaKeywords : Koter, kolposkopi, sedoanaljezi
