Abstract :Özet IL Abdülhamid insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(1876-1909); zamanında Musul`da Milli Eğitim müdürlüğü yapan Resili Mesti Efendi tarafından, 1894 Büyük İstanbul Depremi`nden sonra deprem ve depreme dayanıklı bina yapımına kar~ı kamuoyunda uyanan merakı gidermeye yönelik kaleme alınan Siper-i Ze/zele insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(Depremden Korunma); isinıli risale -bizinı tasnifimizle- üç bölümden olu~maktadır: İlk bölümde risalenin yazılı§ gayesi, depremin meydana geli§ sebepleri ve XIX. yüzyılın son çeyreğinde dünyanın deği§ik yerlerinde meydana gelen büyük depremler üzerinde durulmaktadır. bölümde ise depreme dayanıklı mekanik bir cv modeli teklif edilmektedir. Bu düzene k sayesinde deprem sırasında binada ya da katlarında bulunan insanlar cnkaz alunda kalmaktan kurtulacaklardır. Son bölümde ise 1755 Lizbon depreminde ya§anan ilginç bir olay anlatılmaktadır. Bu bölümde Lizbon depreminde büyük bir fay kınlmasında yeralu mağarasına dü§en iki karde§in ailesine kavu§uncaya kadar ki maceralı hikaye edilmi§ tir. Abstract This treatise called Siper-i Ze[zele is written by ~sul Mesti Efendi who worked as education director of Mosul during the reign of Sultan Abdulhamid the Second. lt seems that the author intended to respond to the curiosity emerged in the Onoman society about earthquakes and construction of earthquake-resistant building after the earthquake which occurted in 1894 in Istanbul. The treatise may be divided in to three chapters: The first chapter is about earthquakes, their causes, great and terrible earthquakes that happened in the last quarter of l9th century around the world. The author proposes a model of mechanical house as a precaution for earthquakes, in the second chapter. He argues that people would be easily rescued by means of this mechanism in case of a desrructive earthquake. The third chapter conrains an odd, may be inıaginary, and unusual event which occurred during the big canlıquake of Lisbon insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(1755);.
