Abstract :Aim: The aim of this study was to identify incidental anatomical variations in the maxillary sinus and nasal concha using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) and retrospectively evaluate them according to their orientation (right and left). Material and methods: CBCT images of 500 patients were included in the study. The maxillary sinus and nasal cavity were examined for anatomical variations in three axes: axial, coronal and sagittal. In addition, the presence of nasal septum deviation was determined and incidental findings were recorded. The data obtained were analyzed with IBM SPSS 21 package program. Results: The most common maxillary sinus finding was mucosal thickening (26.4%). The most common finding in the inferior nasal turbinate was hypertrophy (19%), while the most common finding in the middle nasal turbinate was concha bullosa (42.4%). Nasal septum deviations were 47.15% to the left and 51.85% to the right. Conclusion: Although treatment is not necessary for most incidental anatomical variations, knowing and determining the frequency of these variations that may occur in the relevant region will provide important data for dental and medical practitioners. It will also prevent underdiagnosis and incorrect treatment.
