Abstract :In energy generation, transmission and distribution processes of power systems, in addition to ensuring system reliability, minimizing energy costs is also extremely important. To achieve this, optimizing power flow in the relevant processes emerges as a significant problem to be addressed. Optimal Power Flow (OPF) problems exhibit a nonlinear characteristic due to the variables in the formulation and their multiplication with other variables. Solving nonlinear problems is challenging and complex. Furthermore, the penetration of renewable energy sources, which introduce uncertainties into power systems, makes these problems even more complicated. Since renewable energy depends on natural conditions, it has a volatile generation behavior. Solving the OPF problem in a static manner may not produce a feasible solution for systems that include renewable energy sources with variable generation. Therefore, such systems need to be analyzed dynamically. The dynamic and nonlinear nature of the problem, along with the inclusion of numerous variables, increases its complexity and makes it harder to solve. To address these challenges, various deterministic and heuristic nonlinear programming techniques need to be utilized. This study deals with the solution of the OPF problem, which includes renewable energy, over multi-period using a deterministic method, Fmincon Sequential Quadratic Programming (SQP) and heuristic methods such as Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). The outcomes of the dynamic OPF problem considering renewable energy resources was analyzed in terms of speed, stability, and performance. The developed algorithms were validated using IEEE 9-14-30-57 bus test systems.
