Abstract :The quantitative assessment of work stress, the identification of determining factors and their ranking according to the effect on job stress among teachers of lower secondary schools in Albania are the aims of this study. Information gathered from interviewing a sample of 198 randomly selected teachers was used for this study. Job stress of teachers is assessed at the “moderate” level (37.3 points). Work overload causes greater effects on job stress (39.6 points). Factors related to pressure at work are ranked second (37.9 points). Factors related to safety at work have a smaller effect (34.7 points). The gender of the teacher has no influence on stress at work. Teachers in public schools have greater work stress than teachers in private schools (38.06 vs 35.76 points (p<0.05). The teacher’s age and work experience are factors with a significant effect (p<0.05) on work stress. The increase of the age of the teacher and years of work as a teacher are factors that influence the reduction of stress at work. The civil status of the teacher and the area of residence do not have a significant impact on the stress at work among teachers (p>0.05) Keywords : Job stress, Determinants Factors, Teachers, Lower Secondary School, Albania
