Abstract :This paper is a reflection on the idea of using a committee approach to complement the effort of school management towards achieving effective management of the school. The paper specifically examines the meaning of committee, characteristics, examples of committees and their functions in schools. It also reflects on the benefits inherent in the use of this approach and issues at stake which can serve as impediments to the enjoyment of the inherent dividends, if not addressed by the school management, such as the inadequate skill and lack of orientation of members, paucity of funds for the committee to carry out the assigned task, interference in the affairs of the committee, and a host of others. Recommendations that can make the use of a committee approach effective and8 result-oriented in schools are also stated, such as regular meetings of members and training/orientation of members. The paper will provide insights into how to achieve effective school which is an indication of the well-being of the teachers and students in the school.
