Abstract :Developments in information technology starting from the end of the 20th century have changed the use of computer and information systems in local governments. The main challenge for managers and/or planners is to decide how information technologies should be incorporated into work by local governments and to put them into practice. That's why, local governments should explore new ways to bring together and distribute a large number of inputs from a variety of sources to respond to new challenges. Computer-based applications perform complex analysis to learn how to decide on problem solving by converting data into information, after having enabled administrators to retrieve data. Within the scope of this study, the effect of local government understanding and developing information technologies on decision making process in local administrations is discussed. This article investigates some theoretical perspectives in respect of decision making in local government.
