Nesimi KİŞİOĞLU, Z.Aytül ÇAKMAK, Rahime ASLANKOÇ, Ersin UŞKUN Özet Çalışma, İsparta`da ortaöğretimde okuyan öğrencilerin sigara içme durumunu ve etkileyen faktörleri belirlemek amacıyla planlandı. Bu amaçla 1997-1998 öğretim yılında İsparta il merkezindeki ortaokul ve liselerden dörder okul değerlendirmeye alındı. Öğrencilerin %52.5 lise öğrencisi, %60.8 erkekti. Öğrencilerin %15.1`i halen sigara içmekte olduğunu ve %5.8`i içip bıraktığını ifade etti. Sigara içme durumunu cinsiyete göre farklılık gösterdiği ve halen sigara içenlerin tüm grupta erkeklerde %20.5 iken kızlarda %6.8 oranında olduğu görüldü. Halen içen ve bırakanların ortaokul öğrencilerinde sırası ile %5.1 ve %6.2, lise öğrencilerinde ise %24.0 ve %5.9 olduğu gözlendi. Orta öğretim öğrencilerinde sigara içme durumunun, sınıflar yükseldikçe hızla artmak¬la birlikte demografik özelliklere göre değiştiği ve aile ve arkadaş gibi yakın çevredek¬ilerin sigara içmesinden olumsuz yönde etkilendiği anlaşıldı. Abstract Snıoking Among Students in Secondary Education in İsparta The purpose of this study is to investigate the state of smoking among middle school student in İsparta and the factors ajfecting their smoking habits. The data col-lected infour middle schools andfour high schools in do\vntown İsparta during thefall-1997 and spring-1998 semesters. 52.5% of the students were high school students and 60.8% of the students were male. 15.1% of the students reported being active smokers while 5.8% of the students reported past smoking history. There is significant difference between males and females in terms of smoking, and 20.5% of males are active smokers as opposed to 6.8% offemales. Of the middle school students with a past smoking history, 5.1% were male and 6.2% vverefemale. The same measurements for the high school students were 24.0% and 5.9% respectively. Among students in secondary education, the state of smoking seems to increase rapidly as the students advance to upper grades although negative influence exists based on demographic characteristics and factors like having family members and close friends who are smokers.
