Abstract :The present study investigated the influence of ferric iron insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(Fe insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(III);); and organic matter insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(OM); on arsenite insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(As insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(III);); rejection from a synthetic contaminated water by direct contact membrane distillation insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(DCMD);. Two different pore sizes insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(0.22 μm and 0.45 μm); of hydrophobic membranes made of Polytetrafluoroethylene insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(PTFE); were used at different feed temperature insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(40, 50 and 60 oC);. The operating temperatures, the feed solution Fe insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(III); and OM concentration have been varied during the study to follow pollutants rejection efficiency and flux behavior. Fe insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(III); and OM concentration in the solution did not affect negstively Asinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(III); rejection; both membranes used had high rejection efficiency and permeate arsenic insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(As); concentration was lower than recommended 10 μg/L. As insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(III); concentration was below detection limit in many permeates. Feinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(III); and OM contributed to higher rejection of Asinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(III); and better transmembrane flux. Conductivity and Asinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(III); was rejected up to 99%. In presence of Feinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(III); and at feed temperature of 40 and 50 oC, Asinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(III); was non-detectable in the permeate.
