Abstract :Son iki asırda sırasıyla Britanya, Sovyetler Birliği ve Amerika Birleşik Devletleri`nin işgal ve işgal girişimlerine uğrayan Afganistan, dini, kültürel, ekonomik, sosyal ve siyasal açıdan büyük kayıplar vermiştir. Bilhassa Sovyetler Birliği işgali, Afgan toplumunun dini yapısını zedeleyerek, Afganların mutedil din anlayışlarını tahrip etmiştir. Böylelikle, anomik, travmatik ve kaotik durumların müvellidi olan işgallerin, Afgan toplumunun dini yapısını oluşturan, ulema, dini akımlar ve “İslamcı” hareket yelpazesinde Taliban gibi şiddet odaklı ekstremist din menşeli yeni bir hareketin neşvünema bulmasına amil olduğu görülmektedir. Bu perspektifle makalemiz, Taliban örneğinden hareketle “dinsel şiddet” olarak ifade edilen şiddetin temelinde dinin değil, toplumdaki sosyo-politik ve ekonomik sorunların yattığını iddia etmektedir. Anahtar Kelimeler: Şiddet, Taliban, Afganistan, Dini Hareketler The Socio-Political Sources of “ Religious Violence ” : The Case of Taliban Abstract In the last two centuries Afghanistan has been exposed to invasion of Britain, Soviet Union and lastly The United States of America.  These invasions damaged the political, religious, cultural, economic and social structure of the country. Especially the Soviet Union invasion, by damaging the religious structure of Afghan society, ruined the moderate religious understanding of Afghan people. In this manner the foreign invasions in Afghanistan as the producer of anomic, traumatic and chaotic conditions have paved the way for the rise of extremist and religiously violent movements as Taliban. Therefore this study will argue that the so-called “religious violence” in Afghanistan stems from socio-political and economic issues. Key Words : Violence, Taliban, Afghanistan, Religious Movements
