Abstract :Simmel, sosyoloji kuramında, para ekonomisinin metropol tipi yaşama etkilerine ve yabancılaşma kavramına odaklanmıştır. Metropoller, para ekonomisinin kalbinin attığı yerler olarak ekonomik aktivitelerin en yoğun olduğu yerlerdir. Üretim ve takas ilişkileri kırsal kesimde metropollerden farklı deneyimlenirken, bunun bireyde yarattığı psikolojik etki yaşam biçimlerine nasıl yansımaktadır? Simmel’e göre modern hayatın en derin sorunu giderek bireyselleşmeye hapsoluşumuzdur ve metropol tipi yaşamın en büyük maliyeti ve tehlikesi budur. Bu konuları analiz edebilmek amacı ile Simmel, Marx kavramsallaştırmaları olarak bilinen yabancılaşma ve  meta fetişizmi kavramlarına değinir. Ancak problem şu ki; Simmel’in modernite kuramını oluştururken kullandığı kavramlar, genellikle sadece Marx’a atfedilen kavramlar olarak karşımıza çıkmakta, çok önemli bir modernite kuramcısı olmasına rağmen Simmel’in katkısı gözden kaçmaktadır. Makalenin amacı, Simmel’in bu kavramları kullanış biçimini Marx ile karşılaştırmak ve Marxist ekol içinde Simmel’in etkisini vurgulamaktadır. Simmel’s Modernity Theory  Comparison with Marxist Ecole and  Max Weber  Abstract On his sociology theory,Simmel focuses on the effects of money economy on the metropolitan mode of life and alienation. The metropolitan cities, are the centres of economic activity and concentration as well as being the centers of money economy. How do production and barter relations experienced in urban centres, these being different from the rural ones, affect individuals both psychologically and in terms of way of living? According to Simmel, the deepest problem of modern life is related to preserving the individuality and the existential autonomy of the individual and the cost of metropolitan life is the danger of losing one’s individuality. In order to analyze that, Simmel  use  some concept such as alience, meta fetishism, that are known as Marx’s conceptualization. Altough  Simmel is one of the most important modernity theorist, but because  of theese concetps generally has been known as Marx’s conceptualization, Simmel’s contribution  is hidden. So, this article  aims  to  analyze  how theese concepts used by Simmel compared with  Marx   and  exhibit  Simmel’s effect on Marxist ecole. Key Words: Alienation, Meta Fetishism, Money Economy,
