Examining Instructors in Social Studies Education Staff in Terms of Various Categories

Abstract :This research was carried out in order to mutually examine number of teaching staff in Social Studies education staff, the ratio of women to men, and undergraduate graduation fields of academicians in 62 state universities with Social Studies teacher education programs. Within the scope of the study carried out in qualitative research design, data were collected with document analysis technique. Content analysis method was used in the analysis of the data. According to the data obtained from web addresses of 60 state universities from 62 universities within the scope of the research, the titles of the academic staff in Social Studies education staff, the number of female-male ratios, kinship relations and undergraduate graduation branches insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(from YOK academic); were examined. As a result of the examination, many academicians in the Social Studies education graduated from Theology, Engineering, Public Administration, Archiving, Turkish-German-American Language and Literature, Librarianship, Press and Publication, Geodesy Engineering, Geological Engineering, Ancient Languages and Cultures, Economics, Philosophy and Religious Sciences, Mathematics-Science, Foreign Languages etc. besides History, Geography, Philosophy, Sociology, Psychology, Archeology from faculty of science and literature, and It was determined that the majority of the graduates have completed their master\`s and doctorate education in these fields. This situation was also reflected in research assistant staff, and recruitment to these positions was carried out from departments such as engineering, Turkish, History, Geography, Sociology, etc., who are not Social Studies educators. In addition, considering student potential of universities, only Marmara and Ege Universities, which are among the top 10 universities, have a low number of teaching staff, but only 1 research assistant works. It is among the findings that there are relatives in the staff insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(spouse, nephew); and that they work together in different fields in the same department or in the same faculty.
