Abstract :Forestier syndrome, also known as diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis, is a clinical picture characterized by ossification of all vertebrae along at least four vertebrae and especially the anterior ligaments, although one or more of the paraspinal ligaments may be involved. A 77-year-old male patient with dysphagia and sore throat for one year was admitted to the otorhinolaryngology clinic. Flexibl fiberoptic nasopharyngolaryngoscopic examination showed that the vocal cords were mobile and the priform sinuses were open, but a smooth surface mass covered with normal mucosa located on the posterior pharyngeal wall was observed. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography showed osteophyte formations in the anterior region of the C4-T1 vertebral corpus. The patient who did not have any other pathology was diagnosed with Forestier syndrome in the light of the present findings. She was followed up with conservative treatment. In conclusion, Forestier syndrome involving the vertebrae should be considered in patients presenting with dysphagia.
