Abstract :The aim of this study is to investigate the causes of cracks and plaster spills observed in some walls and floor slabs of a light building, to determine whether these damages are caused by the soil, to present solution suggestions and preventive and/or remedial measures that can be taken for the damages caused by the soil, and to prepare the improvement project by evaluating the data obtained as a result of field and office studies for this purpose. For this purpose, soil investigation studies were carried out to reveal the geological and geotechnical properties of the soil on which the light building erected, and to determine whether the cracks and deformations seen in the building are caused by the soil. It was determined that the deep cracks observed in the walls and floors on the south and west sides of the light building were caused by the swelling pressures of the soil.
