Abstract :The aim of the article is to analyse the distance education also known as distance/open/distributed learning or remote education. It involves acquiring information from methods other than the traditional way of learning or teaching – physically attending the institutions. Modern day distance learning is influenced by advanced technology which enables connection of thousands of learners. Study resources can be delivered instantly through internet in a wide variety of presentation methods. The article will illustrate and consider the methods used in distance learning as well as effectiveness of it if compared with traditional teaching/learning forms.
